Why Repair, Rather than Replace?
When a tumble-dryer breaks, it’s not because the whole machine is worn out. Usually, it’s just one part!
Replacing the broken part restores the machine’s function and extends its lifespan. It’s quick, better for the environment, and costs less than buying new.
Many people assume that repairs mean a long wait, but with our same and next-day slots, they are faster than a replacement.
When buying new, you have to go to shops, find a model, arrange delivery, and dispose of the old machine. It’s frustrating and time-consuming. When repairing, your machine can be back up and running the same day.
With a shorter wait time, lower costs, and less environmental impact, why wouldn’t you repair?

Common Tumble-Dryer Faults We Fix
Welcome to the wonderful world of tumble-dryer faults. Below are some of the most common problems and how we fix them.
Cold tumble dryers are more likely to test your patience than dry your clothes. Blocked filters can sometimes stop the machine from heating, but if the filters are clean, the fault is probably caused by a faulty heating element or thermostat.
Spin problems are never fun. In tumble dryers, they stop the air from circulating properly, leaving clothes damp and musty. If the drum won’t turn or the spin cycle keeps failing, you likely have a faulty motor or a worn drive belt.
If your machine is making a lot of noise while spinning, there may be an issue with the bearings. This is a major repair, usually requiring a new drum, and it’s one that most companies avoid. We offer it as part of our fixed-price repairs.
Unfortunately, there a range of reasons why a dryer might cut out during a cycle. It can be because of blocked filters, dirty moisture sensors, full water tanks, overheating motors or the pump. Our engineers can find the right fix once they have taken a proper look at the machine.
If your clothes are coming out of the machine damp, there may be an issue with the filters, or the heating element. Our engineers can find the right fix once they have taken a proper look at the machine.
If your machine sounds like it’s trying to escape the utility room, there might be an installation problem, worn shock absorbers, uneven flooring, or an unbalanced load. Our engineers will diagnose the exact cause on-site.
If your machine is giving up mid-cycle, there might be a problem with the water flow, a blocked drain filter, or a faulty door lock. Our engineers are able to diagnose the fault on-site.
If your machine has power but won’t start, shows a “door open” signal, or the lock keeps clicking on and off, the locking mechanism likely needs replacing.
If your machine is smelling musty or damp, there might be mould traped in the filter, door seal or condensor unit. Specialist cleaning can get the machine smelling fresh again, because no one wants to put clean clothes in a stinky machine.
If your machine smells of burning, unplug it and switch it off. Burning smells usualy mean there is lint buildup near the heating element, a mechanical part is stuck, or there is an electrical issue. Our engineers can diagnose and fix the fault once they have seen the machine, making sure it safe for you to use.
How Much Does a Tumble-Dryer Repair Cost?
Price is where we differ most from other appliance repair companies.
We want our customers to feel comfortable and confident when booking repairs, not dreading final costs, fearing unplanned add-ons and sneaky fees.
That’s why we take a fixed-price approach. When you book with us, you know exactly what you will be charged before the repairs begin. Our repairs begin at £99.
If we cannot repair the machine, you’re only charged for the diagnostic fee. The difference (£59) is refunded to you. And if the machine repair costs more than we quoted, that’s our cost to absorb, not yours.

“The Repair and Maintain team were great with my dryer. A separate company didn’t offer belt repairs, which I thought could be a bit of a pain, but Repair & Maintain got it sorted for me without any issues.”

Tumble-Dryer Repair FAQs
Find answers to commonly asked questions about our tumble-dryer repairs.
-
Is it worth repairing my tumble-dryer or should I replace it?
Whether you should repair or replace depends on the fault and the age of the machine. As a rule of thumb, if the cost of repair is more than half the price of a new machine, it’s usually worth replacing instead. Our engineers will always give you honest advice based on what they find. If the dryer is not worth fixing, they will tell you openly.
-
Do you offer a warranty on tumble-dryer repairs?
Every one of our repairs is covered by our trusted Repair Guarantee. If the same fault recurs within 30 days, we’ll come back and fix it again, completely free of charge.
-
Do you charge for the call-out if you can’t fix the dryer?
If your tumble-dryer is beyond repair, you’re only charged the diagnostic fee (£59), not the full repair cost. Our engineers will advise you once they have run the diagnostics.
-
Do you carry tumble-dryer parts with you, or do you need to order them in?
Our engineers carry the most commonly needed parts, such as drive belts and heating elements, allowing them to fix many faults on the first visit. If a less common part is needed, we’ll order it in and book a prompt follow-up appointment.
-
How quickly can you come out to repair my tumble-dryer?
We can often offer same and next-day appointments, but they’re offered on a first-come, first-served basis. If you need an urgent repair, let us know as early as possible.
-
What tumble-dryer brands do you work on?
We service all of the UK’s favourite tumble-dryer brands, including Bosch, Beko, Samsung & LG, and Hotpoint & Indesit.
